Wednesday Envelopes Any correspondence that needs to come back to school (tuition also) should be put in the Wednesday envelop. When I collect the envelopes from your child I will send the correspondence to the office. Please sign and return the envelop by Thursday of each week. Classroom Folder Your child has a folder that will be sent home with his/her daily work and assigned homework. Please remove any graded papers that come home with your child in his/her folder. The folder should be returned the next school day with any homework assignments. Homework TK is a time for exploration and discovery. I may ask for the children to wear certain color to school or bring in an object that ties in with what we are studying. They also will have printing, number and alphabet recognition, pre-math and reading readiness, sight words and memorization skills to practice.* They may also have family projects. Every night your child's homework will be to have you read to them as part of their Reading Record. In addition, they will have to practice the monthly prayer. *Other assignments are based on each individuals' area of needed growth. Prayers children will be learning a new prayer each month. A copy of the prayerS IS listed on the News/Reminder page. Mass TK will be attending Mass with the whole school on certain days to be decided in the future. Music Class TK attends Music class twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday. These classes are taught by Mr.Soto. The children also have music incorporated into their everyday curriculum. Physical Education TK attends P.E. class twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday with Coach Gorman. On these TWO days, children must wear their P.E. uniforms and tennis shoes. Uniforms TK is allowed to wear their P.E. uniform all week Because of the physical nature of our curriculum. your child will come home dirty, messy, and sometimes wet (but always with a smile on his/her face). Please note that you may choose to send your child to school in any of the other uniform options, but tennis shoes only for footwear. **Also note that if you choose to send your child to school in a white polo, it may get dirty or stained with paint (so green polos are a better choICe). School Supplies It is important that you send the extra change of clothes (accidents do happen). Please label your child's snack bag, lunch bag or box, and any article of clothing--especially their sweatshirts or sweaters!!! All supplies become classroom/community property. Roller backpacks are NOT allowed. **Please bring a beach towel or small blanket with your child's name. This will be used when we do outside activities or lessons.** Snacks Because of the rise in the number of children with food allergies, special diets, and "picky eaters," we have YOU pack their morning snack. The children will bring his/her snack in a paper lunch bag with their "name & snack" printed clearly on the outside.* The snack may include a drink and either a fruit or some kind of protein/carbohydrate. Please limit the snack to something nutritious and healthy (but make sure it is something your child will eat.) Examples of appropriate snack: cheese and crackers, graham crackers, yogurt, apple sauce, a small sandwich (remember it's a snack, not a meal), etc.
We are reserving sugary snacks for special occasions such as birthday/classroom parties.
The boxed snacks and juice you provided from the supply list will be used during the day to supplement your child's snack if forgotten.
*Those children staying for Extended Care need to pack a snack in a labeled lunch bag, and their lunch in a labeled lunch box (unless your child participates in the hot lunch program).
**If your child has food allergies, please let me know. Birthday Parties The children are allowed to bring a small birthday snack near or on their special day. It may consist of one treat (i.e. cookies, cupcakes, or brownies). You may also include ice cream cups or popsicles. Please deliver treats in the morning and I will disperse at snack time. Children whose birthdays fall during the summer months can be celebrated in June. Please check with me to verify the day and time , and if any children have food allergies. **If you are going to have a private birthday party, invitations may only be distributed in school if everyone in the class is invited, or if the party is either an all-girl, or all-boy party. Early Pickups/doctor or dentist appts If you have to pick your child up early for any reason (e.g. doctors appointment, dentist appointment, etc), please write me a note and give it to me in the morning. Please make sure to check in the office with Ms. PARSONS to sign your child out. Once you have signed your child out, MS. PARSONS would call me so I can send your child down to the office. Please refrain from going to the classroom to pick your child up. Additionally, please let me know (via note) if your child is going home with an aunt, uncle or someone specific that I have not met. Thank you.
